My target audience was college students aged to 16-21 because it's adult comedy based so i wanted a more teenage age rating that adult no violence or swearing so thats why i didn't do 18+.
I needed to produce a clay animation about 20 seconds long with either an orignal story or recreate an existing one making sure no copyright was breached.
the requirements are a little long but they were:
Software – Istopmotion, garage band
· Hardware – Mac PC, Hue HD Webcam, Colour Printer.
The music I chose was - first song was nerd rage sang by your favourite martian which I a youtube channel the person behing the youtube channel is called Ray William Johnson and that music is for most of the clip for the credits I chose the song #Selfie sang by DJ artist The chain smokers.
The software is IStop Motion this software is used for these kind of animation (stop- motion animation) and I chose it because it’s on the computer. I am using to create the clip and it’s quite easy to use it’s not that complicated all you need to do is set up the camera place it where you want to frame the models and press a red button on the software and that take a. Frame and every frame you slightly move the models or do something with them and when you play it back it looks like there moving normally for my animation there not going to be moving that much but still I find it simpler to use. And for garage band I have never used this software but my teacher tells me it ‘s quite simple to use so I chose it well because he told me it’s easy to pick up.
The hardware is not that complicate to describe it’s a mac PC in a college classroom but the Hue HD webcam is a bit harder to explain it’s a sort of webcam. But not the usual kind you can adjust it to where you want with good quality and easy movement for the actual camera so I picked it because it’s what the college offers but I have had past experience using that hardware so I am use to using it.
I planned for this through a blog post doing the usual stuff storyboards and other pre production documents that tie into my animation the planning didn't really help me with completing my project I didn't look at the plan that much and threw the project I changed my idea a little so some of the planning dosent even tie into my video. I dont think I should of spent longer on my planning because as i said it didn't help me in producing my project that much and i didn't create a time plan so i cant really comment on my time management i just got on with it when I got into lesson.
My final piece did meet my brief I wanted to create something new out of an existing idea because the end product wasent that complicated and it was original and tied into dude wheres my car sort off. as I said previously i changed my plan a little my original idea was to do a voiceover but neer the end of the project I didn't have the time so I had to improvise but with that I just rewrote my plan.
The software didn't help me at all because the college computers are horrible in the room that I work in and adobe kept on crashing I stop motion crashed and I had to do the final bit separately and when I finished editing it on some computers the video was laggin and on other it wasent so i had no idea what was wrong with it.
I am satisfied with how it ended up I didn't enjoy it because I dont like clay animations they take too long and you have to clean stuff up when your finished so i cant really comment on what works well i didn't put that much effort into it if i had to say overall I am just satisfied and content with the end product no more no less.
my overall clay ability need improving other than that i am good at editing it was just the project theres some stuff I like and some I dont but I like to just try some different things. If i was to do this again I would like to just do a complete original idea I wish I did do it this one where I could create my own creatures and own story that would get me more involved in the project.
To finish I didn't like the problems that the software gave me the end product I am content with I dont feel like improving it I am just glad I got it over and done with.
